Using the Tangent Element in Final Cut Pro X
This week on MacBreak Studio, Sam Mestman brings the Tangent Element to the set to demonstrate how FCP X’s editorial functions can be mapped to the control surface for fluid, tactile control of the app in the edit bay.
Great MBS, guys. Sam, when you say the two smaller units are “the most useful”, is that because the one has knobs vs. buttons? I (of course) have the OTHER two, which seemed to me to be the most useful, as they have trackballs and rings. (And for anyone thinking of getting them: please note that these things cost 2x or 3x the price mentioned in the video)
Is there any difference between the buttons on the unit with the trackball besides what you program them to do in the Hub App? I get that you can’t get the trackballs and rings to do in FCPX what they do in an app with traditional color controls. Hopefully that’s coming soon with Color Finale.
I didn’t have the patience to attempt programming the Hub, so thanks for what I know must have been a LOT of work!
