Steve Martin will discuss why 360 videos do not look as good as flat videos even when shot on 4K 360 cameras. Watch in 4K for the best viewing experience.

Nice video explanation.
Do I wait for Magic Leap headset or buy a VIVE?
I know its more AR than VR but, it must be able to do both right?
AR matters more, I believe Tim Cook thinks so and I would agree AR + VR = TV Killer
I know only the VIVE is supported… so far.
Hi Steve, I love all the 360 tools. Especially to reorient the 360 main view. Essentially I can keyframe and have the viewer pan through the whole 360 as I would like it to play automatically to the audience but at anytime you are able to take over control of the orientation of the view. How does this feature work if you use the VIVE Headset? If you keyframe the main viewport does this cause the world to spin or does the headset override the orientation that I have keyframed?
I have yet to be able to add Titles or effects in Motion that occupy the 360 environment. For example the ability to be able to walk past a floating title treatment in 3D VR space. AR will have more impact on this technology in the future. I want to have it snow in my 360VR space or rain or walk through fog for that matter. Yes the most expensive technological snow-globe. Volumetric spatial particle effects is essentially what I want in Motion.
N.B.
I wish FCPX could handle spatial audio correctly. My VIRB 360 has four discrete mics on each side, north, east, west and south to make the experience more immersive. In the Garmin software I can export 360 content that retains this spatial audio experience. So when I turn to view a waterfall…I hear the roar of the water increase as I face that direction. FCPX does not recognize the spatial audio as such, only three channels are available on the timeline. Which it sees as stereo content. It is my hope Apple fixes this issue with the next release as the VIRB 360 is quite widely used and is popular among the VR crowd.

Hi, Steve! Are you going to focus on the One 360 Video camera, on how to produce a little segment and then bring that video into Final Cut for proper editing? Is that in your plans for the near future? I just got the camera and the monopod from Amazon, per your (earlier) suggestion, and I am really excited about the possibilities of that little device. Thanks!
I started with buying the Garmin Virb 360 camera. At the start it could only film in 4K, which is nice. But they promised a 5K7 resolution. It has two 4K camera’s (2K x 2K) on both sides, which, when you stitch those two together, will end up in a 5K7 resolution.
At this moment the camera has it’s firmware and the iPhone app ready for filming in 5K7 (they call it RAW mode, which it isn’t…but it looks much better). The Garmin Virb Edit App will have to wait for it’s next update. Then I will be able to stitch both sides together ending up with a 5K7 EQRT video.
I can’t wait to get my hands on 10.4 and start making stories in 360 or make video’s out of the 360 files with a normal 1080p resolution (me doing the turning of the camera in edit).
That viewfinder could very well be my next piece of hardware. Depending on if it can work together with my Mac hardware.
Garmin Virb 360 records 4K in each camera. “Proof” Set Camera Settings > Lens Mode to “Front Only” or “Back Only” setting and it records 4K content. The Garmin Virb 360 takes both of these 110 degree view 4K streams and blends them seamlessly together to get probably some of the best in-camera seamless 360VR content. Notably that it downsamples to 4K 360VR in camera video. This is why it can record rather nice 5K7 as it has still so much ability to overlap and blend the 20 degrees of overlap together. Removing the stand it sits on most of the time effectively. 5K7 is merged on the out of camera because the files are just to big to process in camera. But it nice you can get 5K7 RAW from this camera.
